Join a Team

Many of our volunteers love the community found on our teams. Each team meets on a regular basis to work towards self-determined goals such as building union support for divestment, planning actions, or meeting with key stakeholders to convince them to support fossil free investments.

Our Union Team is a team of state workers and educators who are strategizing about how to build support for divestment within their unions. The team includes a many members from SEIU, California Teachers Association, CASE, as well as several other unions.

The Retiree and Mobilization Team is a group of retired state workers and educators building support for divestment in retiree associations statewide. In addition, this team is a home for planning actions and mobilizations for divestment and organizing for public comment at the pension board meetings.

Our Collaborating for Climate Justice Team amplifies fossil fuel phase out organizing efforts across the state and carries out Fossil Free California's Environmental Justice Values Program.

The LA County and CA Government Fund Divestment Team advocates for the California Local Agency Investment Fund (LAIF) and the LA County investment fund to pass policy upholding their divestment from fossil fuels.

The Legislative Team collaborates with a statewide coalition around passing the Polluters Pay bill. In addition, this team is building support amongst key stakeholders for divestment in preparation for future reintroduction of divestment legislation.

Our Communications Team supports our campaigns, educates the public, and inspires climate action through art, words, social media, and other projects.

Fossil Free California's Fundraising Team seeks funding to support all of the campaign work carried out by other teams, including grants, donations, and fundraising events.

Our Youth Coalition is a student-led coalition of high school and university students across California who are organizing for divestment and environmental justice.

Our Fossil-Free 529 College Savings team works with parents and concerned Californians to advocate for fossil-free investment options for the state-run ScholarShare plan for Californians’ college savings.
